What is Coaching?
Coaching is a powerful, professional relationship to help people make important changes in their lives. Coaching begins with the present, ‘what is’, and works toward the future, ‘how you want it to be’.
What is Co-Active Coaching?
Co-Active is a style of coaching that involves the active and collaborative participation of both the coach and client. A co-active coach challenges you to realize your own wisdom and resources. My role as a coach is to provide you with gentle but persistent accountability as you create a life that you love. You set the direction and the goals; my job is to keep you moving forward. We’ll tailor a program together, but the agenda comes from you. It’s like having your own personal navigator for the journey of your life: someone who will help you find your way and stay on course.
What is the difference between coaching and counseling?
While therapy focuses on your past, coaching takes you from where you are to where you want to be.
What is the structure of coaching?
Most coaching is done by phone. It begins with a “Discovery Session” (in person if you live locally) and then takes the form of three 40-minute coaching sessions per month by phone. This structure can be customized.
How long is the coaching process? A commitment of 3 months gives you the opportunity to experience results in the process. The length of a coaching relationship is typically 3 to 6 months. But it is not uncommon for coaching relationships to last a year or more, with or without breaks.
What do my clients say?
Life coaching has been a great experience and especially with Lois’s gentle, but firm guidance. It has helped me to prioritize and really know what I do and DON’T want to do with my time and energies each day! – Karen T., Artist
With great hope, and no clear vision of what a life-coach could do for me, I entered into my relationship with Lois. She masterfully and subtly engendered conversation that would give me “tools” to use for embracing, not avoiding, road blocks to my goal. Challenges turned into opportunities for growth. Step by step I got closer to my dream, until at last one day I was there! That was coaching! – Karen V., Educator
