How I Work
As your coach, my job is to help you see expanded possibilities and to envision the life you want to create. Together we design a plan and steps to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
Coaching isn’t therapy. Coaching looks forward to your future. My role is to provide you with gentle but persistent accountability as you create a life that you love.
Moving at a speed that works for you, we’ll get started with these steps:
- Take a 360 degree survey/snapshot of your current life. (To figure out where you want to go, it helps to know where you are.) We’ll examine several factors: your health, career, family, money, sense of purpose.
- Articulate where you’d like to be. What do you need in your life to be more fulfilled? You may be clear about what you want to work on. Or it may be an exploration process. Sometimes people come with one thing they want to change… often there’s more than one thing. I’m open to supporting you in whatever comes up.
- Identify what you want more of in your life. Let’s define what’s important to you and see how present it is in your life now. What’s stored in your personal cornerstone?
- Create the “map” that will move you from there to here. Once you can articulate where you are and where you’d like to be, the coaching process is about setting goals and deciding on small steps that will move you from here to there. “We tend to overestimate what we can achieve in the short run and underestimate what we can achieve in a lifetime.”
- Get moving. Once we’ve defined the roadmap, our agenda comes from the roadmap you’ve built. I’ll help provide accountability and focus as you begin to make the changes you’ve identified. And I’ll help you develop skills to move past “roadblocks” like negative self-talk.
- Succeed. Ultimately, what clients take away from coaching are tools and goal-setting techniques that they can incorporate into their life in the future. So the process can support you long after our work together is complete. You walk away knowing how to make these changes on your own.
What I want for you is success, however you define it. I know firsthand that coaching is a powerful process that can transform our lives, because I came to coaching by working with a coach. The process gave me the courage to make changes in my own life.
I am currently only taking new clients for One-day Personal Retreats. Check out the details and email: lois@cornerstonecoaching.net if you are interested. We will schedule a time to ‘meet’ by phone and see if this is a fit for you!
